Front End

Completed rebuilding the front end yesterday, this included new fork legs, re greased and packed bearings in head set and front wheel, new tyre and tube, all metals powder coated, new break pads, new grips.

Looks sweet and seems to roll ok really looking like a bike now I’m happy how’s its come along, except that I scuffed the wheel a little putting the tyres on but I’ll have to touch this up.

Next up the engine work! Iv been put in touch with a friend of a friend that is gong to get on with this so I’ll post his details.

Front Brake

Completed priming painting and putting back together the front brake, this included new pads.

Spent a lot of time sanding and grinding the hub out as it wasn’t sealed off when powder coating the wheels

THE REBUILD BEGINS

So today I spent a good few hours putting it back together.
Put head set back together and regressed bearings,put new grips on, put new foot peg rubbers on put wiring items on, put new front fender mounts on.

Powder cotes items were; handle bars, fork trees, frame, foot pegs, swing arm, bearing housing, stand.

All went back together ok with a couple glances at the exploded views in the parts manual.

It’s looking good and not been to bad so far, had a tidy up of all my parts and got a bit more organised.

Refurbished Wheels & New tires

So got the wheels back from powder coating, they have can out nice. Fitted the new tires and tubes today. This was a mission and next time I’ll take it to a tyre shop and get it done to save the hassle. Got them both on ok and only a couple small scratches so I’m happy.

Had to grind some of the coating away to fit new bearings, used my dremel for this. Also go a bit of a job on to remove the coating from the inner part where the the brake shoes will contact.

All in all in happy even had the steel brush attachment out buffing the old spindle and wheel nut.

Front Brake

Today got to work stripping down the front brake. Will prime and spray this weekend.

Items back from powder coating

Today I got the items back from powder coating and they look sweet un wrapping them is going to be like Christmas.

Exhaust

Today I gave the full exhaust a clean up, i grinned the bottom of the guard off as it was rusted to hell and bushed and sanded all items down, also cleaned all the carbon out I could.

I gave all items a couple coats of a high heat paint.

Had to order from Europe some gasket washers for the guard screws (new), also even though it does say in the manual no packing is needed I put some fmx 2 stroke packing in the spark arrester.

Looks ok and should help with letting the engine breath a bit better, I also have a new copper gasket to fit.

Update

Just a quick update, wheels and frame and parts have gone for powder coating. The guy is also going to sand blast and dip them.

Going to tackle the exhaust tomorrow and get it tided up and painted.

Filter & Wiring Loom

Had a couple hours free today so while sorting the box of parts I tidied up the air filter and fitter the new filter.

I also re-wrapped the wiring harness and tidied it up. When taking it off the bike I numbered all connections so this should be easier to put back together .

Degreasing & Cleaning

Have been busy with work and holidays so haven’t got on with much. All parts are here and all I require now is the piston. Even ended up getting the full nut and bolt kit. Ended up also buying new engine and frame bearings all round.

The bike is fully stripped down and the plan is to get the frame and wheels power coated, or I may spray them as I’m running low on cash and it dont look like curtis will have the time.Either way I had a few hours free this morning so got busy degreasing and cleaning the parts ready to be freshened up.
