Shaft rebuild

Today complete a complete rebuild of the drive shaft and rear hub assembly.

All items were fully re greased, new bearings installed, fully primed and painted. New bolt kit

Engine Rebuilt !

The engine work has been completed today.

New plug, new piston, new rings, new small end bearing, new gasket kit, skimmed and honed, full carb clean, new throttle and oil pump cable, new oil,kick start respray, head/barrel brush and spray.

The oil piston looked bit charred but the barrel was good maybe run a bit rich as it was being pre mixed when I picked it up.

All ready to go back on now hope she starts !

Update ! Work commences once again

This week I moved the PW to the stores and work shop at work, as winter approaches I need some where dry and light to work on it.

I haven’t done much on it because of work commitments and awaiting the arrival of our next child.

I plan to have the bike complete by Christmas including a full engine rebuild . Prob start on it in the next few weeks as soon as the baby is here, works may be interrupted by the autumn rugby internationals tho.

THE REBUILD BEGINS

So today I spent a good few hours putting it back together.
Put head set back together and regressed bearings,put new grips on, put new foot peg rubbers on put wiring items on, put new front fender mounts on.

Powder cotes items were; handle bars, fork trees, frame, foot pegs, swing arm, bearing housing, stand.

All went back together ok with a couple glances at the exploded views in the parts manual.

It’s looking good and not been to bad so far, had a tidy up of all my parts and got a bit more organised.

Update

Just a quick update, wheels and frame and parts have gone for powder coating. The guy is also going to sand blast and dip them.

Going to tackle the exhaust tomorrow and get it tided up and painted.

Powder Coating and Parts

Completing the disassemble of the bike today so it can go for sand blasting and powder coated

Had a load of parts delivered this week from all over the world just awaiting some parts from Europe.

I ordered new foot peg rubbers and the gasket washers for the exhaust guard also new bearing for the shaft.

Frame,fork trees,swing arm,stand and wheels getting blasted and coated

Only engine parts to buy thank god, then to refurb the motor and reassemble. Cleaning every other part along the way.

New parts

Today the plastics seat and tank got delivered!

It looks ok and I’m looking forward to getting it all back together, Curtis has sorted a place that’s going to blast and powder coat all the parts , wheels, frame ect.

Today I also ordered front and rear shoes and a throttle and oil cable. I also ordered a complete new nut and bolt kit.

All that is needed now is engine parts and paint for shaft housing ect. I think… (well hope) that is now it and Iv done all buying required less the engine.

This bike is going to be sweet and like new cant wait to see Finley’s face.

Tyres and Tubes

Today the tyres and tubes got delivered. The old ones were not to bad but as Curt will need to take them off to paint the rims I might as well replace them.

Still to buy, foot peg rubbers, piston, small end bearing, crank shaft bearings, cables and any other bits I forgot.

P.s front fender brackets also got delivered today.

Quick Update

Just a quick update on the bike. The weather has been shocking and Iv been playing golf so haven’t progressed much with it.

Ordered new tyres and inertubes also full set of new plastics graphics and seat.

This is going to be a full restoration and going to take a little while as i live in a flat and work is being done at friends workshops ect when I’m free.

Hoping to get to work on it this week and looki to have it all done by September for Fin’s birthday.

Exhaust work

Dave brought the exhaust with him today and true to the word he had got the guard off and re-tapped with new screws.
It all came at a cost tho and the cost was PAIN!!!

When drilling the old fixings out he also drill pressed his hand !
